Prestige Sandcastle Competition

August 27th, 2007 Posted in Special Events

Yesterday (Sunday), we went up to Parksville, on Vancouver Island, approximately a two and a half hour drive from Victoria. We stopped to get cheap gas just before Duncan. I had a caramel Häagen-Dazs and a Charlseton Vanilla Chocolate Nougat Bar. As soon as we headed off to it began to spit and rain a bit, not sure if it would be worth it going there. We ended up pushing through thanks to my mother.

We arrived in Parksville, and it was near the beach club condo’s being constructed. We got out the car and headed down to the beach, where we asked the people where the sandcastle competition was and we managed to park 100m away. How about that?

We got to the white tent, full of advertisements and we still had to give a suggested donation of two dollars. Once we got in it was crazy amazing creativity that took place. We stood at awe at the sandcastles, here they are:

It was a fun experience and definitely going back next year, maybe for the building of the sandcastles itself might be fun, eh?

[...] On Sunday we drove out to Parksville, which is about a 2 hour drive from Colwood, each way. We went to the Parksville Beach Festival (or Sandcastle Competition) which featured sand castles designed and created by professionals. I’m not sure what it takes to become a professional, but the sandcastles looked great! Some of the pictures that I took are below, and you can see more (and better) pictures on Dave’s post. [...]
